How is coaching is different from counselling/therapy?

Coaching involves working with you collaboratively to:

  • enhance well-being and personal growth
  • set goals that reflect your values and identify the outcomes you want
  • identify and explore possible obstacles or challenges and where you are stuck
  • develop strategies and resources to meet those goals
  • sustain your motivation and give you accountability for meetings those goals
  • offer you activities to practise new skills and behaviours
  • offer you exercises and tasks to do in between sessions
  • offer you relevant information, education and data to help you understand your dating experiences better
  • offer you tools to develop resilience in dating

Counselling focuses more on helping you:

  • explore who you are
  • find meaning and purpose in your life
  • benefit from a safe space and supportive therapeutic relationship
  • work out what is making you unhappy or stopping you from moving forward or functioning in daily life
  • provide you with coping mechanisms to deal with these
  • think about how your past might be affecting your present

Coaching is often more light-hearted, goal-driven and activity-based than therapy.
